Coroner

The Fountain County Coroner is tasked by Indiana law to investigate deaths that occur within their county. These deaths may be the result of illness or injury and it is within the scope of the Coroner’s Office to investigate those deaths with all the powers and responsibilities put forth by the Indiana Constitution and Indiana Code. The Fountain County Coroner and their staff take these responsibilities with the utmost seriousness and serve each person in Fountain County with honor and respect.

Deaths that fall under the scope of the Coroner’s Office include: death outside of the care of a physician, death by accident, suicide, homicide, accidental overdose, as a result of a motor vehicle collision, or unexpected death in the home. The Fountain County Coroner’s Office works closely with local and state law enforcement agencies on multiple levels to determine cause and manner of death.
